Trace is an environmental consciousness application designed to help users monitor their carbon footprint and visualize their ecological impact through a digital "Impact Forest." Developed by hussaindev, Trace is built with a "privacy-by-design" approach, operating entirely offline on your device without collecting or transmitting your personal data to external servers.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

Trace does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal identity information with the developer or any third parties. This includes:

• Your name, email address, or phone number
• Real-time location data (GPS)
• Device identifiers (IMEI, Android ID, Advertising ID)
• Browser history or network traffic information
• Financial records or payment methods

The app does not require account registration, and we have no way of identifying who you are or viewing your logged activities.

3. Local Data Stored on Your Device

To provide its core functionality, Trace processes specific information that you provide. This data is stored strictly in a local database (Room) on your mobile device.

This includes:

• Activity Logs: Details of your daily activities (transport, diet, energy) and their calculated CO2 impact.
• Forest Data: Your 7-day emission averages used to generate your "Impact Forest" visualization.
• App Preferences: Your unit settings and configuration choices stored via DataStore.

This data is not accessible to the developer, is never uploaded to a cloud, and is permanently deleted if you clear the app data or uninstall the application.

4. Permissions

Trace is designed to be lightweight and non-intrusive. It does not request sensitive Android permissions such as:

• Camera or Microphone access
• Contacts or Call logs
• Precise Location
• External File Storage (Photos/Media)

The app may use standard system permissions to facilitate the "Contact Developer" feature (via external mail apps) or to ensure settings are preserved correctly.

5. Third-Party Services

Trace is a clean experience focused on your footprint. The app does not use:

• Advertising SDKs or tracking networks
• External Analytics (such as Google Analytics or Firebase)
• Cloud synchronization services
• Social media integrations

6. Children's Privacy

Trace is suitable for all ages and does not contain age-restricted content. Since the app does not collect any personal information or transmit data online, it is fully compliant with privacy standards regarding children.

7. Data Security

Your data’s security is as strong as your device's security. Because your activity logs and forest health are stored locally, they are protected by Android’s built-in sandbox environment, which prevents other apps from accessing Trace's data. We recommend using a secure screen lock on your device.

8. International Data Transfers

Trace does not perform any data transfers. Your information never leaves your physical device, meaning no international data processing occurs.

9. User Control

You maintain absolute control over your data:

• Edit/Delete: You can modify or delete individual activity entries at any time within the recent activity list.
• Reset: Clearing the app cache/data in Android Settings will wipe all stored footprints and reset your forest.
• Removal: Uninstalling the app removes all data associated with Trace.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy if new tracking features are added. Any changes will be reflected by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this document.
